Sarah Collins takes the rooms you sit and sleep in, which means sofas, dining tables, bookshelves, chairs and the machines that manage air and carpet. Hannah Brooks covers the kitchen, from dishwashers through to pressure cookers, rice cookers and immersion circulators. Neither of us ranks anything on a spec sheet alone. Every guide starts from published laboratory testing and manufacturer documentation, then throws out any product that cannot actually be delivered to a front door, which in furniture and major appliances removes a surprising number of the names other guides recommend.

Our methodology

Every product on Wainscot is evaluated using a transparent, weighted scoring methodology. We research products across multiple authority sources, verify availability and pricing directly with Amazon, and assign scores based on category-specific criteria including performance, build quality, ease of use, and value for money.

Our editorial recommendations are based on consensus across trusted review sources including Wirecutter, RTINGS, Tom's Guide, Consumer Reports, and category-specific expert publications. Products that appear consistently across multiple independent reviewers earn higher confidence scores.
